Eric Vaz

Professor Eric Vaz is tenured Associate Professor and Director of the Laboratory for Geocomputation, Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, Ryerson University, as well as Editor of Elsevier's Habitat International. With over seventy scientific contributions in his field, he was distinguished in 2012 with the nomination of "Rising Star" by the Regional Science Association International. In 2015, he received the award of the Dean's SRC Award for the Faculty of Arts at Ryerson University. Since 2015 he has also assumed the position of Vice-President of the Research Centre for Spatial and Organizational Dynamics (CIEO), a Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology classified centre as Very Good, located at the University of the Algarve, where he acts as invited professor at the Faculty of Economics.
Professor Vaz focuses on using spatial analysis methods, and complex system modelling approaches as well as Geographic Information Systems and Science to understand regional dynamics and integrate a better understanding of policy and the anthropocene. He acts consistently as reviewer for top journals in the field, and is a member of several editorial boards of international journals. He has participated in over 2.5 million dollars in project funding in the last five years as principal investigator and co-investigator. Presently, he is completing a monography for Springer on the topic of the changes and challenges of southern Europe.

Professor Michele Cincera is Associate Professor in Economics at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management at Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. Since 2012 he is the Director of the International Centre for Innovation, Technology and Education Studies (iCite) at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, Université Libre de Bruxelles. Professor Cincera is Research Fellow at the European Center for Advanced Research in Economics and Statistics (ECARES) - Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (from 2011 to presente), and the Central Academic Coordinator of the QTEM Masters Network – Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management at the same University.
