Special Session on Territorial Innovation Models, Smart Specialisation and Public Policies, 24th APDR Congress, 6-7 July 2017

Aim and scope of the special session: Regional studies and planning have given increasing attention to innovation as a catalyst for regional development. Currently a new generation of public policies is being implemented across the Europe associated with the rationale suggested by ‘smart specialisation’. The main purpose of this special session is to contribute to the critical discussion of recent experiences of regional innovation policies. Attention will be given to conceptual presentations about territorial innovation models, comparative analysis of innovation, ‘smart specialization’ in Europe and beyond, and of methodologies for a better comprehension of the ‘entrepreneurial discovery process’, innovation performance and related variety.

The session will be bilingual, with one parallel session in Portuguese and other English. Papers presented may be published in the Public Policy Portuguese Journal or in a collective book to be organized.
